WHY SHAKESPEARE? |
PLOT SUMMARIES |
|||
Right, I've now begun animating the start of King Lear. It'll take me a while to get through it though, I'm hoping to make this the best drawn animation that I have ever made so far, and to add in all the shading and stuff, and getting it to look right will take some time. I'm pretty much hoping for the best, and hoping that I will get round to doing it, what with all the spare time I'm gonna have this summer. Trust me, it is coming.18/7/09 |
Let's face it. Shakespeare's plays were probably one of the most boring things ever, back at school, right? The thing is, it's the language that puts people off. One mention of the word "thou", and you've lost them. But here, there's no complex language, only the bare basics needed to tell the absolute "cut the crap, and then some" story that the plays tell. Prepare to look at Shakespeare in a whole new way. This is Shakespeare, like you've never seen it before. This is Shortened Shakespeare.

JULIUS CAESAR (24s) Basically, a psychic (a soothsayer) predicts that Caesar will die on the 15th March (ides of March), and then his mate Brutus stabs him in the back. MACBETH (32s) Basically, some witches say that Macbeth can't be killed by anyone who's been born until a forest moves. ROMEO AND JULIET (35s) Basically Romeo and Juliet meet, fall in love, screw each other, and then kill themselves. THE TEMPEST (94s) Prospero makes a ship sink, Ferdinand falls in love, a guy plots to kill the king, a frog thing and two idiots plot to kill Prospero, and then they all sail home OTHELLO (35s) A guy gives another guy a handkerchief, another guy sees it, thinks it's his wife and accuses him of sleeping with her. He then goes home and kills his wife. The mistake is pointed out to him, and he kills himself. The guy who started it kills himself, and then the person who talked to the other guys killed themselves. HAMLET (67s) A ghost tells a guy that his uncle kills his dad, he goes and kills his uncle, and then dies because his mate stabbed him. KING LEAR (Under Construction) A king divides his kingdom, disowns one of his daughters, then is betrayed by the daughters he gave his kingdom to. France invades. One of the daughters kills the other, and the third one is executed, and the king dies randomly. And there's something about someone going mad. |
